Foodies Unite! You're Going to Love This One!
My husband and I discovered Trattoria Timone quite by accident this past Friday night and we are so happy that we did! We had gone to a film at the AMC right beside it and were looking to grab a nice dinner later in the evening. On a whim, we stopped at the new Trattoria Timone, not knowing anything about the restaurant other than the atmosphere looked charming and judging by the name they served Italian cuisine. What a wonderful discovery. The moment we read the chef's note on the menu we knew we were in for a treat. Chef Michel Fronteddu uses organic, free range and wild products, and the food is prepared fresh, onsite daily. No frozen and reheated dishes here! We began with the grilled calamari, served witha sweet green onion aioli and babi greens. The sweet green onion aioli is delicious with the calimari, which was succulent and perfectly cooked. The balsamic vinagrette atop the baby greens was a wonderful compliment to the dish. My husband ordered the Lobster Agnolotti special, a handmade, round ravioli from the Piedmont region of Italy, stuffed with lobster in a beautiful vodka rose sauce. The aroma alone was phenomenal, the pasta, again perfectly cooked, and the fresh basil made all the difference in the world. I had the Jumbo Seafood Ravioli. This too was better than I would ever have imagined. A large, single ravioli filled with more succulent fresh seafood than is often found in several such dishes. East coast lobster, tiger shrimp and sea scallops, all perfectly cooked within the ravioli, complimented with basil, tomato, white wine cream sauce and a mozzerella crust. So good I may be hard pressed to try anything else, though I'd love to try everything! The wine list too is exceptional. We will be dining there again and again, and telling our friends. Trattoria Timone is the first restaurant that has made me race to review it in ages. It's right beside the movie theatre and a perfect spot to enjoy a whole evening with family, friends, or someone special. It is so rare these days to find exceptional restaurants in the suburbs. We are often inundated with chains, serving us food that's decent but not fabulous, until we become accustomed to it and call it grand. This restaurant is a gem and oasis amidst all that. You will not be disappointed if you try it.
