I feel terrible when I give a bad review, but this place needs a wake up call. One day last week our group parks at the back and walking to the entrance we see 2 cooks smoking. The problem was they looked like pure filth. Dirtiest work clothes ive ever seen and who knows how much bacteria is they have. Next our server was lousy and miserable. Hated her job or hates life. Or both. Next our food was edible but definitely no love or energy was put into the our food. Then when you think no more bad can happen, something falls from the ceiling. Are you ready, a friggin bed bug, yes folks a bed bug. Need I say more people. Upon further investigation the building has apartments above and a source informed me they are infested with bed bugs. I hope someone takes the proper actions necessary to fix these problems ASAP.
the food was typical pub food (although we were disappointed when trying to order items that were on the menu but not available??) it's average tasting, average in presentation.
the service was brutal. everyone in there was flagging down waiters to get served. perhaps more staff is needed on a saturday night at 8pm?
it was very slow..we were in there for more than 2 hours simply because we had to play where's waldo with our server.
and to top it off? when he brought back my change? he had already skimmed just over $3 off the top. so i opted not to tip. if you aren't going to give me the opportunity to decide how much you get tipped, you only get what you take.
I went to the collins with 5 of my friends, were were ignored and our service was terrible. we were sitting at a booth, and we had to visit the bar area to get more drink's. Our food also took forever to get (above average) .
Worst service we have ever had. We live nearby and have been to the Collins twice.
The first time we had to seat ourselves in a nearly empty restaurant and left 15 minutes later after no service.
Finally deciding to give it another shot we went back, this time with lowerd expectations. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who told us to sit anywhere in the empty dining area (9:30 on a wednesday) 5 minutes go by and a party of four arrives, is seated, and givin menus while we still have had no sign of our waitress.
Once our food and drink orders were taken the drinks came quickly and the food shortley after. Wife had a chicken parm wrap with overcooked cold fries that tasted like microwaved leftovers. I ordered 2lbs of chicken wings that came dry cajun when I asked for hot.
After the food arrived we never heard from or saw our waitress again. Many unsucessfull attempts at trying to flag down 3 of the waitresses talking by the bar later I had to go to the bar and ask for some service. As I walked back to the table and the waitresses talked under there breath I decided to never go to this terrible place again.
I have lived in Dundas, Ontario for most of my life and have visited the Collins Brewhouse many times. I use the term ‘visited’ as if I am visiting someone’s home for the simple reason, each and every member of the Collins Brewhouse staff welcomes visitors’ as if they are family.
It is a quaint pub and restaurant that adds more charm to the town of Dundas. The service is just as incredible as the food they serve. The southwest chicken wrap and chicken wings are super, I would without a doubt recommend these two dishes.
Also, I have attended staff parties in the basement of the Collins Brewhouse. The accommodations that they provide such as; pool tables, a personal served bar, a big screen television, and food served in a buffet self-serve format, provide customers with fun and entertaining memories.
As you can see in my review for the Collins Brewhouse, I would most definitely recommend this restaurant to all age groups. If you like good company, good food and a great atmosphere this is the restaurant to check out!
