Robert Gole

Dr. Robert D. Gole graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Honours Bachelor of Science, Biology major in 1984. He furthered his studies at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and graduated in 1988. During his university years he was very active in undergraduate activities. He was a founding father of the Sigma Chi fraternity. Dr. Gole was also captain of the University of Waterloo warrior football team. Dr . Gole completed an externship at the Federation of International Self Help (FISH) Clinic in Kingston , Jamaica . Interests were in contact lens research while at the University of Waterloo. While working at Gole Eyeworks Clinic, Dr. Gole has continued his interests in contact lens research for both contact lens solutions and new designs of contact lenses. Dr. Gole has been on the forefront of innovation in eyecare. He was one to the first clinics to deliver the Ciba Night and Day contact lenses in North America. Furthermore, he was asked to attend the world unveiling of the new technology for the Alcon Total 1 contact lens which has revolutionized contact lenses and was one of the first clinics to use this lens in North America.His clinic, Gole Eyeworks, was also the beta test site for the Zeiss iMobile eyewear measurement technology. Dr. Gole was also one of the first clinics to use the Blephex instrument for remediation of eyelid disorders in Canada.Patients come from as far as Saudi Arabia to seek his abilities as well as just across town.Other interests in Optometry are macular degeneration and low vision, vision development in children, LASER vision correction and cataract co-management as well as computer vision problems. Our dry eye clinic in Canada has the first three eyelid hygeniests, and we continue to use the latest clinic tools to treat ocular surface for conditions like Blepharitis and eye discomfort. Outside his clinical hours Dr. Gole devouts a great deal of time to Scouts Canada and coaching minor hockey both at the Rep. and house league levels. Furthermore Dr. Gole coaches two lacrosse teams. A set of twins and their big brother keep Dr. Gole's free time occupied. Rob enjoys personal time spent with his children. Skiing, running, biking, swimming or just being outside are free time pursuits. Najma Uddin

Najma Uddin

Being born and raised in Barrie, Ontario, Dr Najma Uddin completed her Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo. She was awarded entrance scholarships and maintained the Dean's Honours List throughout her studies there. She then entered into the University of Waterloo's School Of Optometry Doctorate program from where she graduated in 1999. At U.of W., she was an active member of SHS Students Helping Students Program providing academic mentoring. Dr. Uddin went on to complete the Ocular Therapeutics Externship Residency Program at the OMNI Eye Specialists and War Veteran's Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Uddin passed her US National Board Exams including the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease Certification. Being a role model for young women today, Dr. Uddin spends her time volunteering at local youth forums encouraging young women not to succumb to the pressures of society and to aspire in life to be all that they can be. Dr. Uddin has a successful Contact Lens patient basis dealing with a wide variety of cases such as keratoconus, high astigmatism and multifocal lenses. She has significant experience in Low Vision Treatment of patients in conjunction with the CNIB. Having a love for children and a background in ECE, Dr. Uddin is knowledgeable and skillful in Pediatric care including visual perceptual testing, amblyopia, strabismus and dealing with children with learning disabilities. She has years of experience in Co-Managing Laser Refractive Surgery and provides a full scope of practice to her patients. With a passion for travelling, Dr. Uddin speaks many languages including, Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi and a working knowledge of French, Spanish and Gujarati. Her interests in Optometry are macular degeneration (AMD), retinal disease, glaucoma, and computer-related visual concerns, all of which she utilizes in her work at Gole Eyeworks.
